Finally Fixing My Anime Setup in Plex

Today I finally did something I’ve been meaning to fix forever: my anime setup in Plex.

For the longest time, Plex behaved like a chaotic gremlin — randomly choosing the English dub, picking the wrong subtitles, or pretending an entire season didn’t exist.

Every time I hit play, I felt like I was negotiating with the app.

So I cleaned it up.

And honestly? It feels good.

Step 1: Finding Better Releases

I started using releases.moe, and wow — why didn’t I do this sooner?

Instead of gambling on random versions with questionable subs, I could actually compare release groups, find consistent batches, and choose something that wouldn’t break my library.

It felt like upgrading from chaos to curated order.

Step 2: Teaching Plex to Respect My Preferences

The real magic happened when I discovered Plex lets you set language preferences per series.

So for anime, I told Plex:

  • Audio → Japanese
  • Subtitles → English

Simple. Clean. Beautiful.

Now every episode starts correctly — no fumbling through menus like I'm defusing a bomb.

Final Thought

It sounds silly, but fixing this made my library finally feel like mine.

No more fighting Plex.

No more re-selecting subtitles every episode.

Just:

Play → Enjoy → Next episode.

Small win… but a satisfying one.
